Hello, We are Jill and Ian, a young couple looking to complete our family through adoption. We are active, stable, fun-loving, outgoing and committed to sharing our lives with a child. We appreciate that this is an important decision for you to make and welcome you to view our profile to find out more about us, our families and the types of parents we would be. We are more than happy to chat and meet with you to talk about the type of family you are looking to find for your child and to see whether we match that. We are very receptive to open adoption, allowing the child to understand his/her biological roots. Our Story We have been together for over seven years, after meeting in Australia. In 2002 we both, independently, decided to move to Melbourne to live and work. When we met, we hit it off right away, despite our different nationalities, a Canadian (Jill) and a Brit (Ian). We shared a very similar sense of humour and had seemingly endless topics to discuss. In 2005 we moved to Toronto, Canada, Jill's home city, and have lived here ever since. We have always looked forward to having children and started trying three years ago, after being married for two years. At first it looked like it would be easily achieved, we conceived on two separate occasions but both ended in miscarriages. Resulting complications have left us unable to have children. This has been a great disappointment to us, having spent around two years exploring all avenues, treatments and procedures. This was at first a great blow, but being committed to a family we explored the other options available to us. We know this is a chance to provide a loving and stable home to a child that needs one, while completing the family we so desire. We both are ready to be parents and look forward to welcoming a new baby to our family. Learn About Us, Jill and Ian Jill was born and raised in Canada, and was the youngest of two children. She has worked for a bank for the last six years. Ian was born and raised in Britain, and was the elder of two brothers. He has worked for a business consulting firm for the last six years. Since leaving university we have both been fortunate to have opportunities to live and work overseas, which has fed our travel bug. Like most people, when we think and talk about children, we think of providing a similar upbringing to the ones we received. Despite being of different nationalities we have been surprised at how similar our values are and we would pass these on to our children. These values include the importance of family time, setting an example for our children to follow. We would strongly encourage our children to complete as much education as possible to have many career opportunities to choose from. Having fun and enjoying life while positively contributing to society, as well as an active lifestyle. Our Families Jill's parents live nearby and her brother and his family live just two hours outside of the city (in a nice country town), so we all get together for family occasion and quite often, just to hang out. Ian's family is farther away, his brother lives in Sydney, Australia, so we see him every two years (alternating every two years going to Sydney or his brother coming to Canada for Christmas). Unfortunately Ian's parents are no longer with us, but we still make it back to the UK every couple of years to visit close friends. Bringing a Child into Our Home Both of us will be taking time off when the baby comes, taking advantage of the parental leave offered at 37 weeks between the two of us. Once the parental leave is up, Jill will decide whether she will go back to work full-time or not. We both currently have jobs that are quite flexible around hours we work and where we work, allowing us to work from home sometimes. We bought our first home together shortly after moving back to Toronto in 2006, just before our wedding and have been living there ever since. It is centrally located to where we work, so we can spend less time commuting and more time with each other, friends and family. We have 4 bedrooms, so plenty of room for children. The other member of our family is Jackson our three year old dog. He has a great personality, common with Labs and is friendly to everyone. We were both brought up in very close-knit families with parents, grandparents and cousins around all the time. It was a great experience for each of us, which has allowed us to have very happy and productive lives and it is the same sort of environment we want to share with children of our own. We hope you find our profile in line with how you would want your child raised and look forward to chatting with you further. Our Warmest Regards, |
